Modern Industries, one of the leading manufacturers of railway wagons in India, required the implementation of the SAP Business One system at their manufacturing unit so as to enable the integration of their inventory and finance data and processes and to overcome the problems faced in tracking inventory and orders through their existing system. Modern Industries is an India based company specializing in the manufacture and fabrication of railway wagons. Established in 1941 as a Lantern Factory, Modern Industries started railway wagon production in 1960 and since then has been successfully serving clients, in particular the Indian Railways.
Business Requirements
Modern Industries was facing difficulties in managing inventory and order tracking through their FoxPro based system. A separate accounting software – Tally- was being used for storing and tracking their financial data. Modern Industries wished to implement the SAP Business One system so as to do away with the problems which they encountered with their FoxPro based system. They also wished to integrate their finance data with the other business data so as to get a complete and holistic view of the day-to-day performance of the business. Since the nature of their business is such, Modern Inventory receives free inventory supply from customers to complete their orders. The SAP Business One system was required to store and track the Free Inventory.
Implementation of SAP Business One at Modern Industries
e-Tomato consulting implemented SAP Business One manufacturing unit of Modern Industries. Working closely to gain a better understanding of the business processes followed at Modern Industries, we were able to effectively map the processes to the SAP Business One system. The Finance, Inventory Management, Purchases, Sales, CRM, Service Management and Production business processes were mapped to the SAP Business One system
The inventory management module has been customized to allow Modern Industries to manage and track the free inventory received from customers. The module enables them to generate reports that can in turn be sent to the customers from whom the free inventory was received. .
